Prayers

Prayers for this Time

Lord God, your mercy never fails; you bring us new hope and new life; without you we are nothing.
Give us your help in all we do and keep us always dependent on you, through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Lord God, we pray fro the world we inhabit; for those who lead and take important decisions, and for
those who follow or are coerced, or have no voice.
We pray for mercy and justice, compassion and integrity.
We pray for protection against evil and strengthening of goodness. Amen.

We give thanks for the work of healing in our hospitals and through the healing professions.
We pray for our own doctor. We remember areas of the world where there is little care or where the
problems seem to overwhelm those who seek to help.
We remember people caught up in disasters, in floods, in drought or in war and we pray for relief
agencies and all who contribute to them. Amen

Heavenly Father we give you thanks and praise for all who care for us.
We ask your blessing on our families and friends, all whom we love and all who love us.
We remember homes where there is serious illness and whose loved ones are carers.
We pray especially for all who are struggling to keep their homes together, all whose physical or financial
resources are running out. Amen

This prayer is the prayer that was to be said at the start of each service at Holy Trinity and St James.

Almighty and All–loving God,
Father, Son and Holy Spirit,
we pray to you through Christ the Healer
for those who suffer from the Coronavirus Covid–19
in England and across the world.
We pray too for all who reach out to those who mourn the loss
of each and every person who has died as a result of contracting the disease.
Give wisdom to policymakers,
skill to healthcare professionals and researchers,
comfort to everyone in distress
and a sense of calm to us all in these days of uncertainty and distress.
This we ask in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord
who showed compassion to the outcast,
acceptance to the rejected
and love to those to whom no love was shown.
Amen.
