About Us

Our Heritage

Holy Trinity Church has been part of the life of North Malvern since 1851. Built to serve a rapidly growing industrial community, it began as a Chapel of Ease to Great Malvern Priory. At the time quarry workers living nearby were not always welcomed elsewhere, but Holy Trinity offered a place to worship and be valued. In 1869 the church became an independent parish, and that spirit of openness and inclusion remains a central part of who we are today.

Step inside the church today and you’ll find a building rich in character and history. The Edwardian pews and beautiful painted ceilings and walls remind us of the generations who have gathered here before us. For many years, families rented their own pews however there were always free seats for those who could not afford to pay. One much-loved member of our congregation even continued to sit in her family pew, free of charge of course, until she died a few years ago at the remarkable age of 99. The stained-glass windows tell stories from the Bible and commemorate local benefactors who supported the church, including C. W. Dyson Perrins. Music has always been central to worship here and our original pipe organ is said to have been played by Edward Elgar. Today, a three-manual digital organ and dedicated choir continue that strong musical tradition.

Church Life Today

Many people tell us that when they first came to Holy Trinity they received a particularly warm and friendly welcome. If you join us on a Sunday morning, you can expect a service of worship or Holy Communion, followed by fellowship and conversation over coffee. Church life here is about more than Sunday mornings. During the week our community is alive with activity - from coffee mornings and babies and toddlers groups, to a women’s group and a monthly community lunch. On Friday evenings, the sound of the choir rehearsing often fills the church. Whether you are looking to nurture your faith, quiet reflection, friendship or practical connection with others - there is space for you here.

At the heart of Holy Trinity is a simple hope: to grow as disciples and be a beacon of hope in our community. For us, that means learning and growing in faith, trying to live out God’s love in everyday life, and offering care and support beyond our church building. We are committed to being an Inclusive Church - we are a church which celebrates and affirms every person and does not discriminate. We hope that our church is space where everyone feels safe, welcome and valued. As an Eco Church, we care deeply about our environment and are always looking for ways to strengthen our links with the local community.

The heart of what we do at Holy Trinity is provide opportunities for people to develop relationships, nurturing both our relationship with God and with one another. Holy Trinity is a place where faith is explored at your own pace and friendships are formed. For some, this has been a place to deepen faith, whereas for others it is a start of a new journey of discovery about Christianity. Stories from members of our community reflect that journey of faith and friendship and you can find testimonials.

We are especially proud of the ways our worship adapts to meet people where they are. Creative Church offers an informal, interactive and joyful way for children to explore Christianity while giving parents and carers a chance to connect with one another. Messy Vintage provides an accessible, inclusive worship space for older adults living with dementia and other additional needs, alongside support and respite for carers. These communities reflect what Holy Trinity strives to be: welcoming, flexible, inclusive and rooted in compassion.

Whether you are new to faith, returning after time away or simply curious, Holy Trinity is a place where you can come as you are. We would love to welcome you.

Church service

Our Service

The service begins at 10.30am with a warm welcome to everyone. The service consists of hymns accompanied by the organ, bible readings and prayers. There is usually a sermon which is based on a bible reading that we've heard and that we can apply to our everyday life. During Holy Communion services there is an opportunity to receive bread and wine or a blessing. You are invited to join in with as much or as little of the service as you wish.

Please see our services page to find out more about all of our services.

After the service, you are welcome to stay for tea/coffee and biscuits. It is a great way to meet people and find out about all the activities that happen during the week. Refreshments are free, donations are welcome.

Children & Young People

Children and young people are welcome to attend any of our services. We have a children's corner in church where younger children can play and colour during the service. We have some services which are particularly suitable for families (please see our calendar). We also have Creative Church on one Sunday afternoon per month during term time which is an informal service designed specifically for children and families - find out more.

Getting Connected

Groups

While Sundays are a great way to meet new people, it is often in smaller gatherings that you can really get to know someone. Coming to one of our activities in the week allows you to make new friends, share together and support each other. We have a range of regular activities happening throughout the year (see our Church Life page). We also run bible study groups and short courses at various times throughout the year - let one of our Ministry team know if you would be interested in joining the next one.

Serving and Volunteering

There are plenty of opportunities to get involved in the running of the church. This could be joining a team to help Sunday services run smoothly, helping with our work with children, or doing something behind the scenes like gardening and flower arranging. If you would like to volunteer your time and skills, please get in touch with one of our churchwardens team to discuss how you could help keep our community thriving.
